Because this pecan pie recipe tops the charts in my opinion, and it’s the one I look forward to the most at holiday dinners every year. To me, it is everything at Thanksgiving dinner, right up there with apple pie and pumpkin pie for the holiday table.

Ooey, gooey, crunchy, flaky, buttery, decadent, rich, and it pairs perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All requirements for the perfect combination of textures are met in a classic homemade pecan pie, and this easy pecan pie recipe turns that classic recipe into cute little individual servings.

Now you can have your very own pie perfection that you don’t have to share with anyone on Thanksgiving day! Making pecan pie in individual servings makes so much sense to me. Ask anyone who knows me — I don’t share dessert. Not even with my husband or my sister. Not even when I’m dieting. Not ever.

So, my very own Thanksgiving pie = just yes.

<img decoding="async" width="620" height="936" data-pin-url="https://www.somethingswanky.com/mini-pecan-pies/?tp_image_id=11462" data-pin-title="How to Make Mini Pecan Pies" data-pin-description="So you want an easy pecan pie recipe that you dont have to roll out a crust for? You can absolutely make your own pie dough from scratch with simple ingredients (if you do, try my favorite Buttermilk Pastry Pie Crust, rolled out on a lightly floured surface with just a little bit of cold water to bring the dough together). You’ll need two rounds of homemade pie crust — or one store-bought pie crust doubled up — for this recipe.

Honestly though, for this one I just used a pre-made Pillsbury pie crust. I think their flaky buttery pie crust is tender and very buttery, and I’ve always been happy using a store-bought pie crust when I want an easy pecan pie recipe with minimal fuss. Plus, I’m all about the easy and time-efficient. And anything that spares me more dishes (I swear, I’m gonna die at the sink one day) counts as a great recipe in my book. No pie weights, no blind baking, no drama — this isn’t the kind of pie dish situation that requires prebaking a flaky crust ahead of time.

Use a 3-inch round cookie cutter to cut mini pie crusts (I got 9 out of each Pillsbury crust without re-using the scraps). Pinch the dough between your fingers ever so slightly to thin it out just a little bit and make it stretch some. When placed in a muffin tin (standard size, not mini) misted lightly with cooking spray, the crust should go almost halfway up the sides, just like it would in a regular pie plate or pie pan.

Mixing Up The Gooey Filling

Next, make the pecan pie filling! In a large bowl (or a medium bowl if you’re only making a half batch), whisk together your large eggs, dark corn syrup or light corn syrup — some folks swear by white corn syrup, some love pure maple syrup, but I usually reach for dark brown sugar and a cup of corn syrup for that traditional southern pecan pie taste — plus melted butter and a splash of vanilla. That combination of corn syrup and brown butter is what gives you the nutty caramelized filling everybody fights over.

Do you like chopped pecans or whole pecans? I can really do either one. But in these mini pies, I suggest doing at least a rough chop if you only have raw pecans or pecan halves on hand — you want those crunchy pecans and that nutty flavor of buttery pecans in every single bite, not just at the top of the pie.

Spoon the buttery, gooey filling into each pie crust, and know that you are only about 30 minutes from shoving your very own pecan pie in your mouth. This really is one of the easiest pies out there, and it only takes a handful of minutes of prep time total before it’s ready for the oven.

<img decoding="async" width="620" height="936" data-pin-url="https://www.somethingswanky.com/mini-pecan-pies/?tp_image_id=11464" data-pin-title="How to Make Mini Pecan Pies" data-pin-description="So you want an easy pecan pie recipe that you dont have to roll out a crust for? After about 25 minutes of baking time, these guys are golden brown on top and ready to eat. You’ll know the filling sets when the center of the pie only jiggles slightly and the outer edges look firm and puffed.

If you notice the tops browning too quickly, a little tent of aluminum foil over the top of the pie will slow things down without messing with that gorgeous golden brown color underneath. Let the pie cool on a wire rack for a bit before you dig in — I know, I know, waiting is the worst, but it helps the gooey filling set up just right.

Enjoy 🙂 And never worry about having to share your pie again!

Storing Your Mini Pecan Pies For Later Use

One of the best things about this classic pecan pie recipe is how well it holds up for later use. Once your mini pies have come to room temperature, pop them into an airtight container and stash them in the fridge for up to four days. And yes, pecan pie freezes beautifully — wrap each one individually and freeze for up to two months, then thaw at room temperature whenever a pecan pie craving strikes. That’s what makes this such a great recipe for the busy time of year around Thanksgiving dinner, when you need something you can make ahead and forget about until it’s go time.

Follow me on Instagram and tag me in all of the Something Swanky recipes you make! While both pecan halves and pieces can be used in pecan pie recipes, pecan pieces tend to be less expensive and more readily available than pecan halves. Chopped pecans may also be found in your local supermarket’s baking aisle if pecan halves are not available.

How long should pecan pies bake?
Pecan pies should be baked until the pecan pie filling has set. This pecan pie recipe for pecan pie baking times is dependent upon the pecan pies size, oven temperature, and recipe variation. A pecan pie recipe baked in a glass dish will bake at a different rate than one baked in a metal pan. The pecan pies diameter also affects baking time – pecan pies with a larger diameter will take longer to bake than pecan pies with a smaller diameter.

How long should pecan pie cool before serving?
Pecan pie is best served when it has reached room temperature or slightly above. While pecan pie can be eaten warm, pecans may become softer if they are baked in the pecan pie filling. Allow pecan pie to cool at room temperature for an hour prior to serving in order to best enjoy the pecans crunchy texture.

How do you store pecan pies?
Pecan pies should be stored, covered loosely with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, in the refrigerator until they are consumed. Pecan pies should not be left at room temperature as pecans can become soggy when they come in contact with moisture. Pecan pies may also be frozen, uncut, wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and placed into a freezer bag or airtight container to prevent pecan pie from absorbing flavors from surrounding items.

Should I prebake my pie crust for pecan pie?
Prebaking pie crusts for a short time prior to filling is an optional step that ensures that the crust will be flaky, crisp, and hold up under pressure pecan pecan pecan pecan pie recipe.
